GENERAL & SPECIALIZED CONSULTATIONS

The Clínica Veterinaria Mediterránea has three consultation rooms for our out-patients, one of these dedicated to diagnostic imaging. Each of these rooms is equipped with everything necessary to carry out general examinations, the taking of samples, vaccinations, the implanting of microchips, etc. When necessary, and according to the diagnosed pathology, the animal will be transferred to the diagnostic imaging room for an ultrasound, radiography, eye tests, etc.

All our consulting rooms are spacious, and designed for the comfort of the animal in mind as trips to the vet are rarely popular with pets. Our staff is very conscious of this and go to great lengths in offering kind and friendly treatment.

The clinics general examination policy is against the sedation of animals, the use of muzzles and, in the case of cats, the use of cages. Approximately 1 per cent of our consultations involve such measures, and this is due to the animal suffering extreme stress. We will not do any of this without prior approval from the animals owner.

General consultations consist of a simple examination in order to discover the underlying pathology. For this the clinics experience is crucial, along with laboratory tests (biochemical, blood tests, urine analysis), cultures, dyes, disease testing, ultrasounds, x-rays, etc.

The most common GENERAL CONSULTATIONS involve:

-VACCINATIONS & VACCINATION PLANS
-MICROCHIPS & ANIMAL TRANSPORT SERVICES (EUROPE AND OTHER COUNTRIES)
-STANDARD HEALTH TESTS (PUPPY PRIMARY VACCINATION, GENERAL, PRE-SURGERY & GERIACTRIC)

The most common SPECIALIZED CONSULTATIONS are:

-DERMATOLOGY

Allergic problems in pets are increasingly common, and especially in certain breeds.

Parasitical infestations are also common, for example, from mites (scabies), ectoparasites such as fleas and ticks, as well as fungal infections. We daily diagnose skin problems thanks to our clients description of their animals problem, clinical examination, and specific allergy tests.

In our laboratory, we make the necessary cultures in order to diagnose fungal infections, utilize stains to identify bacteria, and skin scrapings to prepare samples which, when observed by microscope, can reveal evidence of parasitical infestation.
